Aqua Teen Hunger Force

Summary

  • Airs Next: Cartoon Network at Sunday 10:30 PM (15 min.)
  • Status: Returning Series
  • Premiered: December 30, 2000
  • Show Categories: Animation, Comedy

Aqua Teen Hunger Force follows the adventures of the aptly named Aqua Teen Hunger Force, a group of mystery-solving fast food items. The team consists of Master Shake, or Shake, a rather sadistic, lazy, ordering milkshake who loves to torture Meatwad. Frylock, the floating box of fries, is the brains the group, and contains the one thing that the rest of the group lacks: common sense. Meatwad is a loving, caring, gentle ball of meat that crawls wherever he goes, who is frequently tortured by Shake.

Supporting/reccuring characters include Carl, the next-door neighbor of the Aqua Teens, a pure guy, after women and booze. Also has an above-ground pool that Shake frequently has the team laze around in without permission. Ignigknot and Err are creatures from the moon, called Mooninites. They seem to believe that they are vastly superior to the humans of Earth, and their behavior reflects that belief as such. Dr. Weird and Steve have thier own laboratory, in which they produce things that are, well… weird. Their antics have sometimes lead to villainous creatures that the team has had to face, such as The Rabbot.

One of the most misleading things about the show is the title. The characters have little affiliation with water, besides when Shake orders them to laze around in Carl’s pool. Their ages are not known, Frylock and Shake seem to be older than teens, and Meatwad seems to be younger than one. Hunger seems to reflect the fact that the main characters are fast-food items. They are no kind of force whatsoever, as due to the laziness of everyone but Frylock, the team shows little effectiveness in solving mysteries.

Theme Lyrics
My name is!
Shake-zula! The mic rula! The old schoolah!
You wanna trip? I’ll bring it to ya!

Frylock and I’m on top!
Rock you like a cop!
Meatwad you’re up next with your knock-knock!

Meatwad make the money, see!
Meatwad get the honeys, G!

Drivin’ in my car!
Livin’ like a star!
Ice on my fingas and my toes and I’m a Taurus

Hah! Check-check it. Yeah!

‘Cuz we are the Aqua Teens!
We make da homies say ‘ho’ and da girlies wanna scream!

‘Cuz we are the Aqua Teens!
We make da homies say ‘ho’ and da girlies wanna scream!

Aqua Teen Hunger Force… Numba #1 in da hood, G.

The Apprentice

Summary

  • Airs Next: NBC at Thursday 9:00 PM (60 min.)
  • Status: Returning Series
  • Premiered: January 8, 2004
  • Show Categories: Reality

The Apprentice is the ultimate, sixteen-week job interview, where eighteen Americans compete in a series of rigorous business tasks, many of which include prominent Fortune 500 companies and require street smarts and intelligence to conquer, in order to show Donald Trump, the boss, that they are the best candidate for his companies. In each episode, the losing team is sent to the boardroom, where Trump and his associates, Carolyn Kepcher and George Ross, and later, his children, Donald Trump, Jr., and Ivanka Trump, judge the job applicants on their performance in the task. One person is fired and sent home. Who will succeed? Who will fail? And who will be The Apprentice?

The seventh season of The Apprentice sees the show returning to New York City. And this time, instead of real people being the candidates, celebrities are. Fourteen celebrities are currently vying for the title of the first-ever Celebrity Apprentice, including a returning Omarosa from the first season. The season so far hasn’t been without its share of drama, and the season has actually shown some pretty smart celebrity candidates.

The sixth season of The Apprentice saw the show leave New York City and move to an all-new location: Los Angeles, California! Here, Carolyn Kepcher and George Ross were gone and replaced as viceroys by Donald Trump’s children, Donald, Jr., and Ivanka. While the candidates, among whom were the show’s first Asian-American man, the first Jamaican woman, a cervical cancer survivor, and not one, but two openly gay men, were interesting, the season pulled the show’s lowest ratings ever, with too much focus on Trump and his brands, as well as Los Angeles pop culture, and not enough on the tasks and the candidates. Also, Trump’s logic behind his firing decisions made less and less sense. In the end, Stefani Schaeffer, James Sun, Nicole D’Ambrosio, and Frank Lombardi all faced off in the show’s first-ever final four finale that saw Stefani and James ending up as the final two, and Stefani walking away as the sixth Apprentice.

The fifth season of The Apprentice started with something new: the first Project Managers were chosen by Trump, and they got to pick their own teams. Also, exemptions were wiped clean from the rules. The season started out with promise, with four international candidates from Canada, Cuba, Great Britain, and Russia, but lost steam as the more interesting, colorful candidates, including three of the four international ones, quickly bit the dust and were fired earlier than the blander, less interesting ones. The show ended up with what’s been considered to be its worst final two ever, and in the end, the final international candidate, Sean Yazbeck, claimed victory over Lee Bienstock, the youngest candidate to ever make it to the final two, and won the title of the fifth Apprentice, as well as the honor of being the first winner to not be a native-born American.

The fourth season of The Apprentice returned to the basics — the same men vs. women format and winning Project Managers winning exemption — but this time, with a twist. The winning Project Managers would only receive exemption from Trump if the team cast a majority vote to okay it. The season, which featured the first-ever openly gay contestant and first-ever Russian immigrant, easily shaped up to be one of the best seasons of the show, with an interesting cast, exciting tasks, and even the show’s first-ever quadruple-firing! In the end, Dr. Randal Pinkett faced off with Rebecca Jarvis in the final two and won his rightful title as the fourth Apprentice and the first African-American winner. However, the finale was marred by his refusing Trump’s offer to hire Rebecca, as well, in what would’ve been the show’s first double-hiring.

The third season of The Apprentice included a new twist: there are already two teams, “Book Smarts” and “Street Smarts” (Magna Corporation and Net Worth Corporation, respectively). They went head-to-head to see which team was smarter. In the end, the question was answered in the showdown of the century — Kendra Todd, a college graduate, faced off against Tana Goertz, a high school graduate, in the show’s first all-female final two. While in the end, the Book Smarts won the battle as Kendra was given the grand prize and the title of the third Apprentice (and the first female Apprentice, to boot), the experiment of season three showed that both groups of people can be very successful.

The second season of The Apprentice pitted men and women against each other again, but with several changes. The winning Project Manager, or team leader, received an exemption the next week should his or her team lose the task. The tasks became tougher, the judging became harder, and the contestants became fiercer. By the end of the season, Kelly Perdew, though met with tough competition by Jennifer Massey, took his well-earned place with Trump on the other side of the boardroom table as the second Apprentice.

The first, and now classic, season of The Apprentice asked the age-old question: which gender is smarter? Packed with memorable contestants and mesmerizing moments, the first season was an enormous hit, garnering some of NBC’s best ratings in years. By season’s end, Bill Rancic was told, “You’re hired!” and named the first and original Apprentice over Kwame Jackson, and all of the cast members became instant celebrities, with Donald Trump, as always, at the head of the pack.

Warner Bros.’ follow-up to Tiny Toon Adventures was a show even nuttier than its predecessor. The two Warner Brothers—talky Yakko and Liverpool-accented Wakko—and their Warner Sister, Dot (”I’m cute”) had supposedly been created
in the 1930’s, but their cartoons were too screwball for the general public. The three Warners (all black with long ears, but no distinguishable species or breed) were locked up in the studio water tower until they escaped in the early 1990’s. Yakko, Wakko,
and Dot ran wild around the lot, pursued by studio CEO Thaddeus Plotz, security guard Ralph, studio psychiatrist Dr. Scratchinsniff, and Scratchinsniff’s buxom assistant, Hello Nurse (Who didn’t really have to do much pursuing, if you know what I mean. “Hellooooooo, Nurse!”). The show spat out pop culture references and throwaway visual gags with machine-gun rapidity, entertaining kids and adults alike. Also popular were the many songs and song parodies that graced the program. Various shorts rotated through the program, and characters often popped up randomly in other characters’ segments. Among the supporting featurettes: Pinky and the Brain were a duo of lab rats, one goofy (Pinky), one bent on taking over the world (Brain). The Brain’s best-laid plans always went astray, but he kept trying with Wile E. Coyote-like persistence. This was the most popular of the supporting segments, later spinning off into its own series. Slappy Squirrel was an aged cartoon star with a cranky temperament, plenty of anvils
and dynamite, and a nephew named Skippy. Mindy and Buttons were a baby and dog, respectively. Cute but mischievous
Mindy perpetually escaped from some sort of baby harness, playpen, etc., forcing Buttons to rescue her, sacrificing his own body in the
process. Goodfeathers parodied mob movies with a trio of pigeons. And yes, there was a Godpigeon. Good Idea/Bad Idea was an informative segment starring Mr. Skullhead (”Good Idea: smell the roses. Bad Idea: grab the roses.”) Chicken Boo was a chicken who masqueraded as a human Santa Claus, sheriff, prom date, etc., but was always discovered at episode’s end. Rita and Runt were a singing cat and dog team searching for a good home. Mime Time showed a hapless mime practicing his art, which inevitably led to
some painful physical consequences. The Hip Hippos were husband and wife Flavio and Marita, always concerned to be fat. Minerva Mink was a spoiled, but beautiful mink model who made male characters faint in about every episode. Katie Ka-Boom was a moody teen who exploded (literally) when things didn’t go her way. Colin told stories about his friend Randy Beaman and his family. The show ran five seasons of original episodes, then reappeared as part of The Cat & Birdy Warneroonie Pinky Brainy Big Cartoonie Show.

This evocative drama, which won two Emmy Awards, is set against the memorable music, the cultural clashes, and the Vietnam war during the 1960s. The third-year drama depicts the American landscape — as seen through the youthful Pryor family of Philadelphia as they brace for the cultural turbulence ahead that still resonates in this contemporary era.

Seventeen-year-old Meg Pryor (Brittany Snow, “Guiding Light”) is shedding her “good girl” image as she and her outspoken best friend Roxanne (Vanessa Lengies, “Popular Mechanics for Kids”) continue to pursue their dreams of making a difference as they struggle through the transition from teenager to adult. While they continue to dance on Dick Clark’s locally produced “American Bandstand,” they find — as seniors at East Catholic High School — that the world around them is growing ever closer with issues of the war, racism, feminism, and even teen marriage and pregnancy.

At the same time, Meg’s mother Helen (three-time Emmy nominee Gail O’Grady, “NYPD Blue”) continues to face the challenge of the era’s modern woman, working and holding the family together. The family’s patriarch, Jack Pryor (Tom Verica, “Providence”), braces himself for the sociological and economic changes as he prepares to run for city councilman, and JJ (Will Estes, “7th Heaven”), a U.S. Marine fighting in Vietnam, struggles to find his way home to his family and his ex-fiancee, Beth Mason (Rachel Boston, “The Andy Dick Show”), who is pregnant with their child. In addition, adolescent Will (Ethan Dampf, “Collateral Damage”) tries to fit in at school after successful polio surgery, and smarty-pants Patty (Sarah Ramos) tries to find a balance between her brilliant mind and social acceptance among her high school peers.

African-American father Henry Walker (Jonathan Adams, “The American Embassy”) remains hopeful that his partnership in Jack Pryor’s electronics store is a sign of positive social changes to come. However, the politics of the time continue to show him that the needs of the black community are not being met. Meanwhile, his son Sam (Arlen Escarpeta, “The Shield”) has mixed feelings concerning the evolving events as he starts his freshman year at the University of Pennsylvania on a track scholarship which forces him on a path of self-discovery.

The drama embraced contemporary musicians as guest stars who portray classic 1960s icons on “American Bandstand.” Last season’s guest stars include Kelly Clarkson (as Brenda Lee), Nick Lachey (as Tom Jones), Alicia Keys (as Fontella Bass), and Hilary and Haylie Duff (as The Shangri-Las).

America’s Most Wanted is not only the longest-running TV series in the history of the FOX network but the eighth-longest running prime time network show ever and credited for bringing reality television to mainstream. The show was re-launched with new hosts John Fugelsang (a stand up comedian with a one man show called Junk Male) & Daisy Fuentes (Loving), with a new hour long format, and moved to Monday nights where it would once again become a ratings success and then aired on Saturday. Then, after several years of being shown as an occasional special hosted by D.L. Hughley (The Hughleys) and Richard Kind (Spin City), ABC brought the series back on Friday nights with new host Tom Bergeron (Hollywood Squares). In September 2003, it was moved back to Sunday nights. Once again, the series has become a success. On This Show First Price is 10,000 and second is 5,000 and 3,000 for third also there is a 100,000 grand price show every so often where the 10,000 winners compete for 100,000.

The Amazing Race

The Amazing Race 13: The next adventure comes to CBS beginning September 28, 2008. Casting began fall 2007 with final filming wrapped in May of this year. Keep watching for more details on this latest season of the program!

The Amazing Race 12: This adventure began on November 4, 2007 and ended in January 2008! CBS officially announced the return at the same time as the announcement of the cancellation of
Viva Laughlin, giving viewers less than two weeks notice before the start of the new season. This season was lauded by both critics and viewers, becoming a new favorite for many. Congratulations to TK and Rachel, the winners of the twelfth season! Visit CBS’s official website to learn all about the race!

The Amazing Race 11: All Stars — The first-ever All-Star edition for The Amazing Race has ended. This season featured eleven teams who raced on previous seasons of the program. As these teams raced around the world once more, they found themselves facing all-new challenges. This season had its share of surprises, but was met with mixed reviews by fans. Some were disappointed with the uneven structure of the race, as well as challenges that in many cases were considered poorly planned. Others, however, were entertained both by seeing the development of new dynamics when it came to past racers and the flaring of rivalry and drama between teams. Congratulations to Eric and Danielle, winners of The Amazing Race: All-Stars.

Stay tuned for info on the next season of the program, currently slated to premiere in the CBS midseason.

The Amazing Race 10 — The next season of The Amazing Race arrived on September 17, 2006. Following the ninety-minute premiere, the program settled down into its Sunday weekly slot at 8 P.M., but was often delayed by football overruns. This edition saw the teams visiting locations such as China, Mongolia and Madagascar and featured one of the most diverse groups of teams ever. Reaction to this season was generally downcast, due a somewhat unexciting season finale, the repeated football delays in some markets and a final three that was considered by many to be unappealing. However, many were delighted at the team of Lyn and Karlyn making the final three — the first all-female team on the program to make the final three and cross the finish line. Congratulations to Tyler and James, winners of this season!

General format:

The Amazing Race is a Reality program featuring 12 teams of 2 (11 in most seasons except, the third, the fourth, the eleventh and the “family edition”) racing around the world for a cash prize of $1,000,000. The teams compete in thirteen legs traveling all over the world. In most legs the last team to arrive at the pit stop is eliminated. When only three teams remain in the race, they compete in a final leg. The team in first place is the winner of $1,000,000 and the winner of The Amazing Race.

Congratulations to The Amazing Race, now a six-time winner of the Primetime Emmy Award for Best Reality-Competition Program, having now picked up its sixth award at the 2008 ceremony. Now also a winner in the Creative Arts department for Outstanding Picture Editing For Nonfiction Programming (Single or Multi-Camera) in 2005.

The Amazing Race is on internationally! You can catch The Amazing Race on CTV in Canada and check listings for airings in other markets.

Missed past seasons of The Amazing Race and looking perhaps for a way to catch up, other than the DVDS? Watch for repeats on FOX Reality and the Travel Channel. For those in Canada, catch the program on OLN.

Merchandise for the program can also be found on various unofficial sites and on eBay. The Amazing Race is proudly sponsored by Travelocity — “You’ll never roam alone!”

The Amazing Race is now available on DVD! Both the first and seventh seasons are now available, featuring commentary, Side Trips and Mat Chats, along with other exciting bonus features. All That began in late 1994 on Nickelodeon. When the show made its debut, it showcased future careers for the cast. Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell got their own show in 1996 entitled Kenan & Kel. Kenan Thompson became a Saturday Night Live cast member in 2003. Lori Beth Denberg became a regular on The Steve Harvey Show in its second season. Alisa Reyes was the voice of LaCienega Boulevardez on The Proud Family. In All That’s 7th Season, there was an all new cast.

The actual CD has a picture of the original cast on it. Both the DVD/VHS for Good Burger and the TV show’s soundtrack are available on Amazon.com. The show originally was taped at Nickelodeon Studios at Universal Studios Florida in Orlando, Florida before moving to the Nickelodeon at Sunset studio in Los Angeles, California.

Robert James (Duane Martin), an entertainment reporter for a local Los Angeles television station, is handsome, smart, and thoroughly modern in his thinking - as he should be - considering his romantic and parental entanglements. Recently divorced from the somewhat self-absorbed Neesee (LisaRaye McCoy), the mother of their son, Bobby Jr. (Khamani Griffin), he is madly in love with his fiancée, Tia Jewel (Elise Neal), a funny, clever kindergarten teacher who helped him get over the demise of his first marriage. Robert and Tia are of a new generation. They refuse to buy into the old stereotype that being divorced means you can’t get along with the ex. So Robert does things differently as he graciously and humorously works to maintain the peace, however uneasy, between his ex-wife and soon-to-be new bride.

Providing friendship and varying degrees of support and advice to the couple is Dirk Black (Tony Rock), Robert’s best friend and producer, who lives the Hollywood single life, and Tia’s best friend and fellow teacher Jonelle Abrahams(Terri J. Vaughn). As viewers look into the life experiences of an American blended family, Robert and his extended family will bring them laughs, style and true warmth as Robert always tries to do the best for everyone he loves.

In season three, Tia and Jonelle were written out of the series.

In season four, Dirk’s long-lost daughter Courtney (Lavian Greene) joined the cast.

The show was executive produced and created by Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith.

For nearly forty years, America has been entertained by the trials and tribulations of Pine Valley, Pennsylvania. On 5 January 1970, ABC premiered one of their most famous soap operas, “All My Children.” The show is famous for dealing with many socially relevant issues reflective of the times. Such issues include abortion, drug use, the Vietnam War, homosexuality, and rape. But it has always done it in a classy and intelligent way, which is why the show has lasted so long and remained so popular. Through good times (Susan Lucci finally receiving a Daytime Emmy) and bad times (including the losses of Ruth Warrick, Louis Edmonds and Frances Heflin), the show has always stuck through.

All in the Family

Summary

All in the Family was first seen in January of 1971 and immediately changed the face of television. Not only was this the number one television series from 1971 through 1976, but it also signified an avalanche of other situation comedies that dealt with controversial subjects in realistic ways. Including, Chico & the Man, The Jeffersons, Maude, Good Times and Sanford & Son.

The series centered around the Bunker family who lived in a home located at 704 Houser Street in Queens, New York. Archie Bunker was the main character, and what a character he was. He was televisons most famous bigot, crass and down right rude. Yet he was loveable, with a soft side just beneath the surface. Edith Bunker was his somewhat dizzy wife whom he called “Dingbat”. Edith put up with Archie and had qualities about her that made her one of television’s most unforgetable characters. Also living in the Bunker household were Archie and Edith’s daughter, Gloria, and her husband Mike, or “Meathead” as Archie called him.

The stories revolved around many controversial topics including, rape, sex, homosexuality, death, and other topics that were relevant to the 1970’s, especially political strife and inflation. Archie Bunker was probably the first character in a situation comedy to use racist remarks referring to blacks and other minorities, yet another first for television.

Other frequent cast members include, the black neighbors, the Jeffersons, who got their own series, The Jeffersons in 1975. The Lorenzos were also neighbors. In 1975, Gloria had a son, Joey, and three years later in 1978, Gloria, Mike and Joey moved away to California, leaving Edith and Archie alone. Not for long, however. Soon they took in a niece, Stephanie Mills, who had been abandoned by her father.

The original format ended in 1979 which was when the series was renamed Archie Bunker’s Place. The new format centered around Archie running his local tavern which he bought in 1977.

Ally McBeal

Summary

FOX’s hit dramatic and humorous show tells the story of the trials and tribulations of a 28-year-old lawyer by the name of Ally McBeal (Calista Flockhart), who is just fresh out of Harvard Law School. Ally was harassed at the firm where she was originally working, and when she told the firm’s partners, she ended up losing her job. However, she then runs into an old friend and he offers her a new job at his brand new firm where she meets tons of new people and her old boyfriend, Billy with who she’ll lead her new life full of cases and Ally’s fantasies.

Once the darling of the network, rumors of anorexia plagued star Calista Flockhart. The second and third seasons, therefore, introduced more and more eccentric characters who were given essentially “nothing” to do, and original series regulars Gil Bellows and Courtney Thorne-Smith both left to pursue other projects.

Ally McBeal was revitalized in its fourth season with the addition of Robert Downey Jr. as the lead character’s love interest, Larry Paul. However, Downey’s personal problems and numerous arrests, eventually wore out Kelley’s patience and he was dropped. Lisa Nicole Carson, who played Ally’s roommate, also left at the end of the fourth season following a brief stint in an institution and admitted problems with substance abuse.

Without Downey, the fifth season had floundered more than ever; bringing in Jon Bon Jovi as a love interest, and giving Ally a daughter played by Hayden Panettiere) hadn’t helped. Lucy Liu’s character was dropped to a recurring role, while James LeGros left. James Marsden and Julianne Nicholson were added to the cast, only to be dropped a few weeks later. David E. Kelley decided then to cancel the show instead of having FOX executives do it for him.

Hannibal Heyes and Kid Curry, two successful and popular outlaw cousins in the old West, decide it´s time to go straight. The problem is that the governor just can´t give them amnesty right away, they have to prove that they deserve it. And in the meantime they will still be wanted. Hunting them is everybody, from sheriffs to bounty hunters, to posses and ordinary people.

Hannibal Heyes/Joshua Smith is the thinker, the poker player and the optimist, while Kid Curry/Thaddeus Jones is the quick-drawing worrier who sometimes is a bit slow. Together they are Smith and Jones…

Other regular characters include “Big Mac” McCreedy, a wealthy ranch owner, who´s feuding with his next door neighbour, senor Armendariz. Harry Briscoe is an agent with Bannerman detective agency, who´s perhaps not the brightest man around. Clementine Hale is a woman with an enormous zest for life. She owns the only picture of Heyes and the Kid and often uses it to get them to get her out of trouble.

This show contained both humour and drama, as well as gunplay, poker games, and chases. It is said to be in part inspired by the movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969), but it owes equally to TV series Maverick. (Peter Duel’s appearance in most of the first season’s episodes, with the black hat and his hair combed back, looks very similar to James Garner as Maverick.)

On New Year’s Eve, 1971, Peter Duel died from a gunshot wound to the head. The death was officially ruled suicide. Duel was fighting an alcohol addiction (he had been convicted of DWI), had been drinking that night, and was depressed over his legal problems and the state of his career, feeling that Alias Smith and Jones was hardly his best work. The runaway success of Alias Smith abd Jones led to a grueling schedule for the actors, as cast and crew worked overtime to produce more episodes to keep up with public demand, and this may also have played a part.

The role of Hannibal Heyes was filled within only a few hours by Roger Davis, who had originally done the voice-overs in the opening credits, but the show´s popularity sank steadily - as did the interest for Western shows in general, and the series was canceled in January 1973.

Alfred Hitchcock Presents was a mystery and suspense anthology hosted by the master of supsense Alfred Hitchcock. Each 30 minute episode included opening and closing vingettes featuring Hitchcock who would often explain some aspect of the day’s show and would often offer subtle (or not so subtle) jabs at the shows sponsors.

The series premiered on CBS on Sunday, October 2, 1955 in the 9:30-10:00 PM timeslot opposite ABC’s The Original Amateur Hour and NBC’s Alcoa-Goodyear Playhouse. In its sixth season the show moved to NBC and was shown on Tuesday 8:30-9:00 PM. On NBC it served as the lead in for two other anthology shows Thriller and The Dick Powell Show.

Alfred Hitchcock Presents featured both original works produced directly for television and adaptations of existing source material. Some authors whose work was adapted for the series include: Alexander Woollcott, Ambrose Bierce, Cornell Woolrich, Frederic Brown, Henry Slesar, H.H. Munro (aka Saki), John Cheever, John Collier, John Wyndham, Ray Bradbury, Roald Dahl, and Robert Bloch. The show also featured work by famous (or later famous) directors Alfred Hitchcock and Robert Altman. It also served as a proving ground for stars and future stars: Charles Bronson, Robert Redford, Steve McQueen, Peter Lorre, Robert Duvall, and Vera Miles.

In 1962, Alfred Hitchcock Presents was expanded to one hour and was shown under the title the The Alfred Hitchcock Hour. In 1985, the these shows experienced a revival under the title Alfred Hitchcock Presents.
